The Poetry of Fr Peter Banyard SJ
We are happy to announce the publication of a volume of poems by Fr Peter Banyard SJ, who was a member of the Glasgow Jesuit community for many years. The volume of poetry has been edited and produced by Mr Ronnie Renton who was a close friend and long-standing colleague of Fr Peter (known to many as "Fr Bertie") when they taught together at St Aloysius College. This collection covers poems written by Fr Banyard from his early days as a Jesuit until his final years in Glasgow.
Given his many years of service in education, the hope would be to present any donations made for the book to a planned funding project of Jesuit Missions initially entitled "Jesuit Opportunities for Education in Southern Africa" (JOESA) which will be attempting to assist children in Southern Africa who need help to further their education - studies, apprenticeships, etc.
Any donations to support JOESA can use the form on this page. A suggested guide price would be £10 per copy, but anything you can give would be appreciated.
If you would like a copy of the book please contact Fr Dermot Preston SJ at the Jesuit Residence by using the email address of firstname.lastname@example.org indicating your name and contact details.
If you would like us to post the book, if you can please add an extra £2 then we can send your full donation to JOESA.
Thank you very much indeed.
Chestnuts hold candles for your Son,
Bluebells make a carpet for your feet,
Blackbird and thrush your beauty laud,
In your arms God and mankind meet.

Arrochar and the hill beyond
Reflected perfectly in the
Dark, still water of Loch Long
My heart and mind are uplifted,
Alleluia to him, the creator God of
Yesterday, today, forever.
