Charity Recital – St Andrew’s Day
Saturday 30th November at 7.00 pm in the Auditorium
Reese Manglicmot and Friends present an informal Charity Recital inspired by the life and patronage of St Andrew, Apostle. Featuring music for piano, saxophone, oboe and baroque flute performed by students of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. All proceeds go to the St Aloysius’ ESOL school for refugees and asylum seekers.
Handel's Messiah
December 17 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
It’s no surprise that Handel’s Messiah continues to draw audiences back year after year. There is nothing quite like it. Although the Hallelujah chorus has become the work’s calling card, Handel wrote every note to impress and astound his listeners.
Its choruses are as grand as anything Handel ever composed, the solo writing profoundly moving, the drama powerful and compelling. Performed ‘the Dunedin way’ as Handel would have first heard it, with a small orchestra, a team of twelve singers and soloists who step out from the chorus, there are few more uplifting ways to celebrate the festive season.
This performance is presented with British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation throughout, delivered by an interpreter positioned on the left side of the stage facing the audience.
Paul Whittaker OBE, BSL interpreter
